Your branch

The UCU branch at the University of Nottingham is composed of various structures. The branch rules can be found here.

  • Members are the highest decision making body of the branch, making collective decisions at branch meetings.
  • The Branch Committee is elected yearly by the membership and is delegated to make decisions that are within the aims and objectives decided by the members. Most people on committee have specified roles, and the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer make up the executive committee.
  • The Departmental Reps are the first point of contact for members. They are volunteers whose role involves signposting information to members in their department, and liasing between members and the branch committee. They are coordinated by the Reps coordinator(s), who in turn sit(s) on the Branch Committee.
  • The Casework Team deals with requests for casework, i.e. where members need help or representation with some aspect of employment. This team is coordinated by the Casework coordinator(s), who sit(s) on the Branch Committee.
  • Campaigns are organised via various working groups. Proposals from these working groups are then sent to Branch Committee for approval.

If you are interested in getting more involved in the branch, we suggest enquiring first about joining a campaign working group or becoming a Departmental Rep if your department lacks one. In either case email uonucubranch@gmail.com.
