The branch has created a detailed alternative to Phase One of the University of Nottingham’s redundancy programme under the Future Nottingham initiative. It sets out a clear and credible set of financial and strategic alternatives to compulsory job losses, grounded in robust evidence, sector norms, the University’s own financial data, and insights from staff working within affected units. This counterproposal demonstrates that alternatives to mass redundancies exist. What is needed is not more cuts, but the courage to change direction.
The counterproposal was submitted to management on Friday 4th July 2025.
