Fixed term contracts – UCU support

stampout_logo_225x155UCU has long campaigned for the rights of university staff on fixed-term contracts.  Problems of casualisation in the sector are endemic, and becoming worse as zero-hours contracts become a feature of the new ‘flexible workforce’.

University of Nottingham UCU now has a dedicated caseworker focusing on issues relating to fixed-term contracts. Committee member Elvira Perez Vallejos (Institute of Mental Health) will take a lead on casework matters on these issues.

If you are on a fixed-term contract, and you have an issue/problem you want to discuss – please contact the union office in the first instance, and we will be in touch with you.

Given the scale of this issue, across the HE sector, we are always looking to do more work that challenges the casualisation culture in universities generally, and obviously with particular interest to Nottingham.  If you want to help us in this work, we would be delighted to hear from you – ucu@nottingham.ac.uk.
